Flip Out festival - 29th August 2009, SYDNEY
...Naked on the Vague left me feeling dumb for not being smart enough to like them, so i say we beat up the wankers:
...James Arthur's Manhunt pulled out some great Texas style fuzzed-up-country-rock. I must ask though, what's with the bear tattoo on the hand?:
...Deaf Wish played a blistering set of swamp-rock-heartache:
...The Stabs, who seemed to have a new drummer, were one of the stand-out bands of the day. Bruised-up-trash-rock, well worth seeing live:
...Goodnight Loving had me smiling and rocking for there whole set! Garage-rock, with a tinge of country.(OR) What Gram Parson's would sound like if he was signed to In The Red records:
...The UV Race blew the whole show apart. Definitely the best band of the night with their killed by death trash-punk aesthetic. Killer live show too:
...Eddy Currant Suppression Ring represent all that is great in Australian indie-rock. Good songs, good stage show and a desire to have a good time, and not over-think the 4th beer of the night. The only gripe is there slower songs really jar after the fast ones. And to the Sid Viscous rip-off in the crowd with me, enough with the inappropriate tough guy behaviour!:
And to the lads i saw getting busted by the cops after the gig, sucked in!
